Jaffarabadi
The Jaffarabadi is the heaviest milch of all the Indian breeds of
buffaloes. It is found in Junagarh, Bhavnagar and Amreli districts
of Saurashtra region of Gujarat. This breed has very typical horns.

Mehsana
The Mehsana, a dairy breed of buffaloes, is centered around the
town of Mehsana from where it derives its name. It is also commonly found in Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad districts.

Murrah
Buffaloes in the northwest region of India have curled horns
and were named as ‘Murrah’ meaning ‘curled’.
These buffaloes are also named ‘Delhi’ referring
to their centre of origin. The Murrah’s home tract is Rohtak, Jind, Hissar and Gurgaon districts of Haryana. They are considered the
best milch breed of buffaloes.

Surti
Surti buffaloes are found in the southwestern part of Gujarat
comprising of Kheda, Vadodara, Bharuch and Surat districts.
It is lighter in body weight, compared to heavy breeds, consumes
less feed and thrives well, both on stovers and on limited or
no green fodder. It produces milk with high fat and SNF content
and is popular with landless, small and marginal farmers.

Pandharpuri
This breed is native of Kolhapur, Solapur, Sangli and Satara district of Maharashtra. The breed derives its name from the place of its origin i.e. Pandharpur Taluka of Solapur district. These are highly domesticated medium sized animals. They have typical sword like horns and are fairly good milkers.
